Our First University Graduate in Kenya

On November 29th, Tessa became the first of our Kenya University Scholarships Project beneficiaries to graduate! Congratulations to Tessa, who earned her Bachelor of Science in Community Development and Environment degree from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in just three years. Tessa blazed through her course by following a “trimester” program, taking courses for three semesters per year instead of the usual two.

TIES initiated the Kenya University Scholarships Project in the fall of 2021 and Tessa was among the first group of beneficiaries to apply. On her application she wrote that she had two sisters, both age 19. We were confused and assumed that her sisters must be twins, but how old was Tessa then? It turns out the she was also 19 years old and a triplet! Her sisters are proudly standing beside her in her graduation photo above.
